How to choose music for your wedding

Start with the important moments of your wedding and the tastes of your guests. A useful DJ brief contains preferences and a few essential songs, while leaving room to adapt the music to the atmosphere. I work with Romanian and international music and discuss the schedule with you, from the welcome through to the final part of the party.

Choose music for the key moments

List your entrance, first dance, cake cutting and any family moments you would like announced. For each one, send the song title, artist and exact version. Recordings with the same title can have different introductions or lengths. If you have a choreographed dance, specify the starting point and the ending you need.

Describe your guests and favourite styles

Tell me what you enjoy and what your families listen to. We can combine folk music from different Romanian regions with pop, international music, retro favourites or other styles. At a mixed wedding, both families should feel included. You do not need to choose every song for the entire evening yourself.

Prepare two short lists

The first list contains the songs you definitely want to hear. The second contains songs or styles you would prefer to avoid. Tell me how you want guest requests handled. Your preferences are the starting point, while the running order can adapt to the energy on the dance floor.

Agree the MC role

The DJ handles the music; the MC introduces and coordinates the key moments. We discuss names to announce, their pronunciation, the language of the announcements and the venue contact. If other performers are involved, we agree the running order and transitions between their sets.

Check arrangements with the venue

Confirm access times for setup, the music finish time, available space and any sound limits. Ask whether the fine atmospheric mist used for lighting effects is permitted. These details help us prepare professional sound and programmed lighting suited to the space.

What to send for a quote

Send the date, venue or postcode, event type and the hours you would like music. We discuss the quote and availability. Bookings are confirmed via WhatsApp with a £100 deposit; the remaining balance is due on the event day. The contact page explains cancellation and date changes.
